About Meg - Alcohol & Grey Area Drinking Coach for Women

Hi, I’m Meg Harries, founder of Happy Hour Coaching. I’m a qualified Personal Performance Coach based in Brighton, helping women change their relationship with alcohol, drink less and live more.

I work with women who are sober curious, alcohol-free, or somewhere in between. Often they don’t identify with addiction or feel they need traditional recovery support; they simply know that alcohol is taking more from their life than it’s giving.

My coaching is gentle, intuitive and non-judgemental. There are no labels here and no requirement to hit rock bottom.

My mission is to help women rewrite their story with alcohol, quieten the noise of over-thinking and over-drinking, and reconnect with themselves and the simple things that make life feel good again.

My Story

For years, alcohol was simply part of my life.

I worked in the television industry and know first-hand the pressures of a busy work/life balance. I grew up with the dance music scene and was a teenager and twenty-something during the notorious 90s ladette culture, when binge drinking was normalised and being able to drink everyone under the table was practically a badge of honour.

But eventually I had a quiet knowing that alcohol wasn't working for me anymore.

I wasn't physically dependent on alcohol and I didn't identify with addiction. From the outside, life looked absolutely fine. But inside, I knew that when I was drinking, I wasn't fully myself.

I was tired of the over-thinking and over-drinking. The promises to myself. The anxiety. The mental gymnastics around when, where and how much I would drink.

And underneath years of coping, habits and conditioning, I began to realise there was so much more waiting for me.

A life where I could feel authentic and present. Where I could nurture my body and mind, have healthier relationships and rediscover the things that genuinely brought me joy.

Changing Your Relationship With Alcohol Can Feel Scary

I know because I've walked this path myself.

When I began changing my relationship with alcohol, I had all the questions:

How will I celebrate, commiserate, relax and socialise? Will my friends still want to go out with me? How will I manage stress or difficult situations without reaching for a drink? And will I still have fun?

These are very real worries.

And they're part of the reason I created Happy Hour Coaching.

Through one-to-one alcohol coaching, group coaching and women's circles, I help women understand what sits underneath their drinking, challenge old beliefs about alcohol and create practical, sustainable ways to cope, connect and enjoy life.

This isn't about simply taking something away.

It's about discovering what you want to put back in.

I'll walk beside you with support, curiosity, practical tools and mindset shifts to help you rebuild self-trust, grow your confidence and create changes that extend far beyond alcohol.

And yes — we can have fun doing it.

Drink Less. Live More.

My Coaching Values

Integrity - A relationship built on trust

My coaching is heart-centred. I will always be empathetic, kind, honest and non-judgemental.

Courage – You have the answers; I ask the questions

Sometimes I'll ask difficult questions and, when needed, share difficult truths. Together we'll untangle limiting beliefs, look at what's really going on and find solutions that create meaningful, sustainable change.

Connection – We're in it together

Connection is at the heart of everything I do. I create a safe, supportive space where women can talk honestly, feel heard and know they don't have to figure everything out alone.

Curiosity – What else might be possible?

Coaching is future-focused. We'll explore old patterns with curiosity rather than judgement and look at the new habits, choices and stories you want to create.

Success – Celebrating the big and the small

Change isn't only found in the huge milestones. I'll be there for the difficult days and the wobbles, but I'll also make sure we notice and celebrate the wins along the way.

My Coaching Qualifications & Experience

I'm a qualified Personal Performance Coach, women's circle facilitator and founder of Happy Hour Coaching in Brighton.

I trained with The Coaching Academy and my Personal Performance Coaching Diploma is accredited by the Association for Coaching (AC) and recognised by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

I have more than 200 hours of coaching experience, alongside ongoing professional development, training and supervision.

I've also trained with Sister Stories as a women's circle facilitator and regularly run women's coaching groups, workshops, circles and alcohol-free wellbeing events in Brighton, Hove and East Sussex.

I work with women locally in Brighton and Sussex as well as providing online alcohol coaching for women across the UK.

My professional training matters to me, but so does lived experience. I understand what it feels like to question your drinking, wonder whether it is "bad enough" to do something about it, and worry about what life might look like without alcohol playing such a big part.

Today, I know how much life can open up when alcohol becomes small and insignificant.

And that's what I want to help other women discover.
